Education enables individuals to acquire the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary for
responsible participation in society. These include the ability to reason and communicate effectively; a
capacity for compassionate inquiry; a framework for intellectual, ethical and aesthetic growth; and a
commitment to the well-being of self and the larger community. General Education is the underpinning
of the College's mission, which is to enable students to "Explore. Discover. Transform." Regular
Education is the term often used to describe the educational experience of typically developing children.
The content of this curriculum is defined in most states by state standards, many which have adopted
the Common Core State Standards.
